A Battered Woman's Wish
Author: Carolyn R Young-Vaughn , © 2002

I've been battered
I've been abused
No longer will I be used

A punching bag, I am not
I wish you'd just die and rot
Go to Hell while the fire's still hot

Something's wrong inside your head
I just wish that you were dead

It would take away my pain and sorrow
I could actually look forward to tomorrow

God put you here for something
What? I'm not sure
I just wish he'd send me the cure
For a broken down man
Who carries the worth of his life in using his hands
On a woman he claims he loves so dear
Who lives her life in fear

Comments by Carol:
This was written at a time in my life when things weren't looking as bright as they are today. I have a wonderful man (who is not abusive) and three beautiful children. Please remember that it is possible to find real love and that what might be happening to you now is NOT love!
