  WAR
Author: Nicole Hollis

My little brother took on the man

Who took on my mom.

Who knew that world war 3

Would release such an atomic bomb?

The Toddlers stood by watching

Saying "Don’t hit my mommy again!"

That’s what pulled the trigger

From the dark room my little brother was in.

The bomb went off.

The house was shakin’.

Who knows if my little brother even felt

All the hits he was takin’.

You can only see so much,

Let it go so far,

Before inside yourself,

You struggle with war.

In the foundation upon which we grew,

The love’s destroyed and corrode.

The pain can only get so intense

Before your insides explode.
