About the Rhiannon Name. . . .

Rhiannon3_ , Internet User
(Rhiannon3, Inc. Incorporating Officer)

She is a modern day woman, who owns a web development company and other online businesses. Among many more pleasant things, she is also a survivor of domestic violence. She struggled through US State court systems to bring justice to her case. You can read more about this here. Since that time, her life has moved on to a pleasant and fulfilling second marriage.

However, her earlier experiences changed her outlook forever. Her struggle and her concern for domestic violence issues are the motivation behind this website and the Rhiannon3, Inc. non-profit organization.

Her favorite Internet username is Rhiannon3_, although on some sites where databases cannot accept the underscore (_); you may see her as Rhiannon3_x, Rhiannon3x, or Rhia3. She is not the only Internet user who uses derivatives of the Rhiannon name, and in fact is often contacted by people looking for other "Rhiannons".

She is an avid Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fan -- intrigued by their music, especially Stevie's songs about the Goddess Rhiannon, since early adulthood.

Although her spiritual beliefs are traditional Christian, she finds the stories of mythology fascinating. This, and her love of Stevie's music, led her to choose the username, Rhiannon3_.

She is a strong believer in the concept of personal growth or spiritual growth -- relentless and hard-driving in her passion for motivation, inspiration, and excellence. This passion gives her a love for reading classic works and self improvement writings. Many of the book titles which have inspired and helped her most are offered in our bookstore at discount prices.

Her belief in personal willpower is evidenced by her education and career. She put herself through private college, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Management and Marketing. After a long career and achieving a Plant Manager assignment with a large firm, she went back to school to learn Internet programming and web development.

Rhiannon, Welsh Goddess

Before the great kings and queens of England were the storytellers of Wales, who kept oral tradition. The storytellers, called "bards", were held in high regard as they kept both imagination alive and preserved ancient culture.

The written version of these tales is the Mabinogion, also know as The Four Branches of the Mabinogi. Rhiannon is the Welsh moon goddess and goddess of the dawn from these tales.

Rhiannon's name translates as "divine" or "great queen". Her original name is thought to be Rigatona (Gaulish).

She is a potent symbol of fertility, yet she is also an Otherworld and death Goddess, enhancer of dreams, and a moon deity who is symbolized by a white night horse. She is the protector of animals and always has three birds attending her.

In her guise as a death Goddess, Rhiannon's three birds were said to sing sweetly enough to lull the living to sleep, and to make the dead rise from their graves. That may be what relates her to Germanic stories of lake and river fairies who sing seductively to lure sailors and fishermen to their deaths.

She is believed to be the Welsh counterpart of the Gaulish horse goddess Epona. Her son, Pryderi, succeeded his father Pwyll as the ruler of Dyfed and of the Otherworld. Her white horse images also link her to Epona, and many scholars feel they are one and the same, or at least are derived from the same archetypal roots.

A mother and fertility goddess, she later became the goddess Nimue, or Vivien, who was the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian myth.

She is a muse of poets, the source of all inspiration, and sweet singing sirens were called "the birds of Rhiannon".

Today, Rhiannon can still take us into the path of inspiration. Her legend is an inspiration to Rhiannon3_, our site author.
